Katherine West Health Board and its members recognise the rights that the Aboriginal people have in respect to access to their traditional lands. These rights are recognised under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act. The Community Health Centres operate within these communities. They are surrounded by land held by traditional owners. It is important that anyone visiting these areas including staff from Katherine West Health Board are aware of the regulations of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act..
The structure of the Katherine West Health Board is based on the philosophy of Aboriginal Community Control. Katherine West Health Board has a Regional Board of members consisting of representatives residing within the Katherine West Health Board region.
The Katherine West Health Board is managed by the community through the Board and its Directors.
We cover/support the following communities: Bulla, Daguragu, Kalkaringi, Lajamanu, Mialuni, Pigeon Hole, Timber Creek, Yarralin. |
